In Remembrance Archways
With this visual, we explore empowerment through self, the discovery of self and others, and the fostering of inclusion and belonging within community. Playing with the idea of uniformity and versatility, the collection carries meaning across both individuality and collective identity. The story offers a glimpse into the architectural backbone of the brand.
“Initially, this project began with memories of Broward and Miami. After my father’s transition, I felt a calling toward New York—toward Fort Greene, Brooklyn, and the memories of my childhood there. Those moments helped form the foundation of who I am today and the background of Nicole Zizi Studio.”

The idea behind In Remembrance Archways was to begin bringing elements of self into the brand more intentionally, allowing personal history to inform creative direction.
“The idea was to start bringing elements of who I am into the brand, and to do so more intentionally. I’ve been working diligently in the sustainable and green design space, and for a while I separated my personal experiences from the brand until 2023. I began introducing bits and pieces of my story through the collections; this video introduces parts of my upbringing.”

Throughout the project, adidas appears across the imagery—largely through footwear and behind-the-scenes documentation—reflecting everyday familiarity rather than product focus. The visual language draws inspiration from the cultural narrative expressed in RUN DMC’s My Adidas, particularly its themes of origin, identity, and progression:
“We took the beat from the street and put it on TV
My Adidas are seen on the movie screen
We started in the alley, now we chill in Cali
And I won’t trade my Adidas for no beat up Bally’s”
—RUN DMC

That progression—from personal beginnings to wider visibility—resonates deeply within In Remembrance Archways. The work exists as a reflection of memory, place, and identity, offering an honest continuation of the brand’s evolving story.
